Performing Arts at Ross
Ross School’s Performing Arts program is a dynamic and integral part of campus life, inviting each student to engage as a maker, performer, and thoughtful interpreter of the arts, building skills in creativity, collaboration, confidence, and focused practice.
Upper School students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of offerings, including string orchestra, choral ensemble, plays, musicals, playwriting, student works, and films, as well as distinguished regional honor ensembles such as NYSSMA, SCMEA, NYSCAME, and LISFA*, where Ross students consistently stand out for their creativity and talent.
Blending artistic study with historical, technological, and global viewpoints, and highlighting both expressive development and intellectual inquiry, the Performing Arts at Ross are approached as art forms, cultural touchstones, modes of communication, and opportunities for creative expression.
Student work is shared with audiences near and far through a robust schedule of performances, including concerts, stage productions, and community-focused initiatives. From the dynamic Upper School Chorus to the new Encore Society for community performances, Ross nurtures performers who lead with excellence, expression, and intention.
*NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association), SCMEA (Suffolk County Music Educators Association), NYSCAME (New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education), and LISFA (Long Island String Festival Association).
