Early Childhood

Our programs encourage exploration and discovery, fostering both artistic and cognitive development.


Early Childhood programs are held on the Ross Lower School campus at 739 Butter Lane, Bridgehampton, NY 11932


Ages 2–6

Our Early Childhood programming for campers ages 2–6 includes Creative Explorations, Music & Movement, and a new Sports program.

All of our offerings are developmentally appropriate for each age group and designed to facilitate social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. Our Early Childhood camps are taught by skilled and caring teachers and counselors who nurture your child to their full potential. 

Please note: There are no refunds or make-ups for any reason; this includes but is not limited to, injury, illness, and inclement weather. Children over 3 years old must be potty trained (not wearing diapers or pull-ups).

Music and Movement

Ages: 2 and under

Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 11 am–12 pm

Cost: $150/week

During this interactive program, both caregivers and little ones enjoy the sounds of the world while playfully exploring multicultural musical traditions, instruments, singing, and movement. Each class is designed to nurture development in both infants and toddlers through a series of music and movements while building a larger understanding of the world around them.

Please note: Class will not take place on July 4.

Creative Explorations: Age 2

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9 am–12:30 pm

Campers are introduced to an exciting array of open-ended, developmentally appropriate activities and experiences that facilitate social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. Each day, young campers engage in a variety of fun activities, which might include music, creative dramatics, sports, yoga, Mandarin Chinese instruction, gardening, or water play.  

TYPICAL DAY

8:45–9 am: Drop Off

9–9:30 am: Table Activities (art, playdough, nature, puppets, Legos, books)

9:30–9:45 am: Camp Meeting/Interactive Activity

9:45–10 am: Snack

10–10:45 am: Camp Activity Based on Weekly Theme

10:45–11:30 am: Camp Specials (music, creative dramatics, wellness, Mandarin/Tai Chi, gardening)

11:30 am–12 pm: Lunch

12–12:15 pm: Close of Day (may include playground time or classroom activity and goodbye song)

12:15–12:30 pm: Dismissal

Creative Explorations: Ages 3–6

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9 am–3 pm

Campers will be grouped by age.

Campers are introduced to an exciting array of open-ended, developmentally appropriate activities and experiences that facilitate social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. Each day, young campers engage in a variety of fun activities, which might include music, creative dramatics, sports, yoga, Mandarin Chinese instruction, gardening, or water play. Children 3 and up must be fully potty-trained (no diapers or pull-ups) and able to use the bathroom on their own.

10:45–11:30 am: Camp Specials (music, creative dramatics, Mandarin/Tai Chi, gardening, farm visits)

11:45 am–12:15 pm: Lunch (provided by Ross Café)

12:15–12:45 pm: Recess (playground, water slide/play, crafts, yoga)

1–1:45 pm: Rest/Cool Down (Age 4–6: Quiet games, puzzles, independent reading; Age 3: Rest/nap)

1:45–2:40 pm: Specials (music, stories, gardening, farm visits, drumming) and Free Choice (play with friends, instructor-facilitated activities, sensory bins)

2:45–3 pm: Dismissal

Early Childhood Sports: Ages 4–6

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9 am–3 pm

Campers will be grouped by age

Campers ages 4 to 6 will enjoy an introduction to the world of sports and fitness fun! Campers are introduced to various movement activities along with fun drills that help build visual acuity and gross motor skills. A variety of sports, including tennis, soccer, and basketball, are introduced. With this multi-sport agenda, campers gain the building blocks and developmental tools that engender confidence and discover the joy each sport has to offer. Campers experience both the individual and team aspects that will mark their choices as they travel on the road to organized sports.
