Buddha Nature: The Heart of Enlightenment
Dharma Talk & Meditation with Lama Depa
Friday, June 28, 6–8pm
Suggested donation $35, but no one will be turned away.
You are invited to join Lama Depa to learn about Buddhism and meditation at a session hosted by East End Dharma Group at Ross School. Lama Depa will speak about Buddha Nature (the heart of enlightenment that inherently rests within you, also known as Original Goodness) and the Four Thoughts That Turn the Mind to Dharma. In addition, she will teach and lead participants in shinay meditation, or shamatha, a form of meditation that helps practitioners learn to settle and rest their mind.
A senior teacher at Kagyu Thubten Chöling, a Tibetan monastery and retreat center in Wappingers Falls, NY, Lama Depa was ordained as a nun in 1986 by Ven. Dorje Chang Kalu Rinpoche and has completed two traditional three-year
Retreats. Lama Depa has taught extensively at various centers affiliated with Kagyu Thubten Chöling Monastery and Omega Institute. She has extensive experience teaching meditation and Dharma practice to children and adolescents and looks forward to sharing meditation methods for calming the mind and developing compassion, which she has been privileged to receive from her teachers.
