On November 14, the Ross community gathered in the Upper School’s Court Theater for to watch the Grades 9–12 Fall Concert. The event featured performances from the Chamber Ensemble, the Jazz Band, and the Modern Dance elective class.
As a special treat, in honor of what would have been Thelonious Monk’s 100th birthday, the Jazz Band performed two of the songs they focused on during their trimester-long study of Monk’s music: “Monk’s Dream” and “Blue Monk.” Additionally, they played “Take the A Train,” a piece made famous by Duke Ellington, one of Monk’s biggest musical influences.
The audience thoroughly enjoyed the dynamic show. Watch video of the concert performances here!
