Over the weekend, Ross School faculty and staff were thrilled to welcome Summer Term @Ross students to our community. Newcomers arrived throughout the weekend, hailing from Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United States.
The students immediately bonded as they went around the houses exploring their new rooms and introducing themselves to one another. They spent the afternoon playing soccer on the tennis courts, cooking, and watching soccer on TV. The first night drew to a close early in the evening, as many students were exhausted from a full day of travel and unpacking, and they wanted to get a good night’s sleep for the scheduled July 4 festivities.
On Monday, the whole group gathered at a boarding house for a “Welcome to Ross” pool party and Fourth of July celebration. All enjoyed a full day in the sun, feasting on burgers and hot dogs, and capping the celebration off with a group trip to the frozen yogurt shop. It was a perfect way to transition into the week!
Tuesday was the first day of classes for Summer Term students, who met up in the Ross Café for a delicious breakfast and swapped stories from the weekend. After breakfast, they went off with faculty members to discuss upcoming schedules and assignments. In the afternoon, students split up into their electives and wellness classes. In Culinary Arts, students learned how to make hash browns; in Digital Music they tested out different instruments and DJ equipment. The Film Studies class started watching and analyzing movies, and the TOEFL Prep group worked on preparing for the Test of English as a Foreign Language exam. Wellness class options included multisport, yoga, surfing, and tennis.
