The South Fork Country Club hosted Ross school’s spring golf outing on June 16. Teams made up of parents, students, alumni parents, sponsors, and business partners of Ross School enjoyed a pre-golf luncheon, a day of golf, and a post-golf reception at the historic club. Participants included parents from South Korea; students from São Paolo, Brazil; sponsors from New York City; and Ross family and friends from throughout the East End. We offer a special thanks to Mirea Kim and Dong Hoon Chang, parents of graduating senior Isoo Chang, who traveled the farthest distance to attend the event.
The event’s title sponsor was the New York Knicks, with additional support provided by Montauk Bus, East End Apparel, Hamptons Gym Corp, Bach Grazina East End Orthodontics, Chuck Miller Printing, Hamptons Magazine, P. W. Grosser, Nature’s Bounty, and Osteo Bi-Flex.
The four-person scramble format was dominated by the team captained by current parent Debbie Feldstein. The team, which also included Valinda Valcich, Pam Burton, and Robin Corwith, had a net score of 11 under par, or 59. Valinda also took long drive and closest to the pin honors for her team. Second place went to the Hamptons Gym Corporation team of Brian Buckhout, Marcus Borowsky, Matt Lockard, and Dermot O’Dwyer, with a 7 under 63. Current parents Eric Firestone and Paul Forsman teamed up with Ross School student João Coelho, from São Paolo, Brazil. The team captured third place, with João winning both the closest to the pin award and the longest drive honor. Fourth place went to the team of Cody Vichinsky, Sam Kelly, Chris Montero, and Robert Butler. The captain of the Montauk Bus team, Kathy Mensch, won closest to the pin on the 15th hole.
