On Friday, October 24, students, faculty, and staff got into the spooky spirit at the Ross School Resurrection Dance and Dinner. Parents Association volunteers helped to transform the Court Theater into a haunted dance club with a DJ, couches, and lighting, highlighted by a scary frozen figure at the entrance that came to life to frighten the partygoers.
The costumes were elaborate and creative, and there was stiff competition in the best costume contest. Eleventh grader Big Kitty Xue, dressed as Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones, placed first; freshman Raul Valle took second place for his cowboy and horse costume; and sophomore Eisei Maeyama placed third as “baby Superman.” The teachers also got into the spirit and came dressed as cats, witches, ninjas, and assorted creepy creatures. “It’s always the best party of the year,” said Cultural History Teacher Mark Tompkins, who donned an Ebola-fighting hazmat suit for the occasion.
