On November 1, Ross fourth graders came together to celebrate their ancestors and the circle of life with a Feast of the Ancestors. In conjunction with their study of early human spiritual beliefs and rituals, the two classes celebrated and remembered family members who came before them.
To honor these ancestors and their memory, students brought in a favorite family dish and its recipe, and shared family stories and traditions with their classmates. They wrote down their stories and recipes and wove them into a cookbook offered to the students’ families. The students also read their stories aloud during the Feast of the Ancestors celebration.
