The Ross Institute Board of Trustees and the Ross School Board of Overseers have named Dr. Gregg Maloberti, Ed.D. as the Interim Head of Ross School for the next two years beginning July 1, 2012. This decision is the result of a comprehensive search conducted by the Board of Trustees and the Search Committee, composed of faculty, parents, administration and staff.
“We are very pleased that Dr. Maloberti has accepted our offer to join the Ross community as Interim Head of School. His specific areas of expertise—organizational leadership, student recruitment and retention, development, and deep experience with the international community—will insure that Ross continues to be a leader in global education and develops in its next decade as a financially sustainable and highly competitive independent day and boarding school,” said Courtney Sale Ross, Founder of Ross School and Chairman of the Institute Board of Trustees.
Gregg Maloberti is leaving his position as Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Lawrenceville School in New Jersey where he has worked for the past 15 years to assume his new role at Ross, while current Head of School Michele Claeys embarks on her own new opportunities at the end of the school year. Dr. Maloberti will work with Ms. Claeys throughout the spring to ensure a smooth transition when he officially begins at Ross in July.
Dr. Maloberti has 25 years of experience working at independent schools and 24 years as a direct report to the headmaster, as well as 24 years managing admission teams. He has authored two articles on independent schools that appear in national publications and completed research on grade construction in English and math classes for his Doctoral Dissertation, Making the Grade in a Competitive Boarding School: Exploring Practice and Perception, 2010.
His experiences prior to Lawrenceville include Director of Admission and House Master at Brooks School; Dean of Upper School Admission and House Master at Cranbrook Schools; Director of Admission at Alexander Dawson School; and Dean of Admission, English teacher and House Master at the Winchendon School.
Gregg and his wife, Amy Maloberti, will join the Ross Community with only one regret—that their three grown children will not get the chance to experience a Ross School education. Daughters, Sydny and Bronwyn, both graduated from Lawrenceville School. Sydny recently graduated from Dickinson College, and Bronwyn is studying pastry at the Art Institute in Philadelphia. Maxwell is on a gap year between graduating George School last spring and starting Dickinson College in the fall.
